Home      About Oliver

Oliver James Moore was born on 14th July 2001. Oliver is dually-diagnosed with Down’s Syndrome and Autistic Spectrum Disorder (DS-ASD) which is rare and accounts for only 10% of the 60,000 people diagnosed with Down’s Syndrome in the UK. Every single case is unique, presenting it’s individual challenges, which makes the assessment and management of Oliver’s needs a continual and complex process. Oliver also has Perthes' disease which affects his physical development and mobility. Oliver also has impaired sight and hearing.

In simple terms, this makes his life quite a complicated one to understand and Oliver has difficult conecting to it as one would normally appreciate. He cannot properly feed himself (but is slowly learning) and is still in nappies (but also is learning).

Despite his disabilities, Oliver is an extemely affectionate and happy child and it is a privilege to be part of his life.
